Wow, is it just me or does it feel like 2019 really flew by! Must be my getting
older…Haha
Last year started off a little slow as far as Hiroshima goes, but gained momentum starting in April with shows in northern California, Charlotte SC, Detroit, and Louisville KY where we honored to receive a proclamation from the Mayor’s office proclaiming it Hiroshima Day. We also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Houston. These honors mean so much to the band, and these special recognitions come at a time when we are celebrating our 40th. year of recording in the music industry. There aren’t many bands, if any, that are still together recording and performing live. The only band that comes to mind is Spyro Gyra, which we’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with a few times in the past.
Of course, the bands career would not have been possible with the support of you, our community of loyal fans!! This past year seemed to show a resurgence of interest in the band and it showed in our shows where most of them were a sellout or close to a sellout. The enthusiasm from you all really made the shows a lot of fun for us…we feel very blessed. Many thanks and appreciation to you all!!
We’re so very happy to have our newest member, drummer Land Richards, join us on this 40th. year of recording tour. Land has played with many of the top artists in the recording industry…Al Jarreau, Gladys Knight, Stevie Nicks, and Luther Vandross just to name a few. Along with Dean on bass our rhythm section is solid! And not to worry, Danny, has moved over from playing drums to playing Taiko, percussion, and keyboards. His talents really help expand the band’s sound and gives that extra
dynamic that we haven’t had for a while.
Still feeling very much the passion to create, we are very excited and looking forward to sharing new recordings and performances with you in 2020. Dan has 2 new the charts). Also a song that June and I wrote, Gentle Heart, will be getting mixed very soon by our very good friend and one of the best engineers in the recording industry, Don Murray.
Here’s wishing you all a Whole Lotta Joy, Good Health, Prosperity, Happiness, Peace, Love, and Blessings in the coming year!!!
Aloha, Kimo
